Washington and Lee Johnson Scholarship 2027

The Johnson Scholarship at Washington and Lee University supports up to 44 incoming students each year. Selection considers academic performance, leadership, integrity, writing, recommendations, citizenship and involvement beyond the classroom. The award covers tuition and fees, housing and food, and includes US$10,000 for a summer experience. Finalists are invited to an on-campus selection event whose attendance costs are paid by the university.

Open to first-year applicants, including international students. Selection is based on academic achievement, demonstrated leadership and integrity, and potential contribution to intellectual and civic life. YourRoute represents first-year applicants completing secondary school as ages 17–18.

Submit a complete Common Application or Coalition Application to Washington and Lee, including the Johnson Scholarship supplemental essay, by the scholarship deadline. Required materials include the high-school transcript, two teacher recommendations, one school counselor recommendation and secondary-school form; SAT/ACT scores are optional for the current entering class.
