UCLA Global Medical Brigades Science & Medicine Competition 2027

Offered by UCLA Global Medical Brigades

A worldwide grades 9–12 science and medicine team competition combining an online STEM test, a solution pitch deck and a live Zoom final.

About this opportunity

The UCLA Global Medical Brigades Science & Medicine Competition challenges high-school teams across science, medicine, mathematics and engineering-style problem solving. Teams begin with an online test covering core STEM concepts, then top teams develop a solution to a science problem in a pitch deck. Finalists refine their proposal using judges’ feedback and present live on Zoom to a judging panel described as including UCLA professors and industry experts. All participants receive certificates.

Who can apply

High-school category: grades 9–12. Teams contain 2–5 students from the same school; multi-school exceptions may be requested. The preliminary round is explicitly open to all registered teams worldwide.

What you'll need to apply

Register a 2–5 student team through the official portal. Each student completes the preliminary online test; the top two individual scores count toward the team score. Advancing teams create a science-solution pitch deck, and finalists present live on Zoom. A two-camera proctoring setup is required for the online test unless an approved alternative is arranged.
