About this opportunity

The Harvard Undergraduate Research Journal’s Fall 2026 Research Competition lets students submit either an original research paper or a research proposal. The official competition accepts all academic disciplines; this YourRoute listing highlights its STEM-eligible pathway. Finalists receive a short guidance and feedback session with an experienced current Harvard student researcher before presenting live on Zoom. All participants receive a certificate and scores, with country, regional and global recognition.

Who can apply

High-school category: grades 9–12. Students may compete individually or in teams of up to five students; team members are normally from the same school, with exceptions available by request. International participation is evidenced directly by THURJ’s global awards and winners from Singapore, Qatar, Thailand, Hong Kong, China and the United States.

What you'll need to apply

Register for either Original Research or Research Proposal. Original Research requires a PDF research paper up to 10 pages excluding references; Research Proposal requires a PDF proposal up to 5 pages excluding references. Both use Times New Roman 12-point font and double spacing. Finalists present live on Zoom.

US$145 per student per track through Sep 22; late registration is US$165 per student per track through Oct 22.
