A rolling, online aerospace research fellowship for grades 9–12 with 1:1 mentor guidance and an original research-style project.

About this opportunity

The Aerospace Research Fellowship is a personalized online research experience focused on aerospace engineering and related areas such as aviation safety, autonomous drones, satellite data, space systems, climate observation and human spaceflight. Students work with a mentor to define a focused research question, review technical literature or datasets, conduct analysis, and produce a paper, poster, technical report, presentation or other portfolio-ready research deliverable.

Who can apply

Grades 9–12 are eligible; Research Ignited describes grades 10–12 as the best fit while motivated 9th graders are considered. There is no fixed prerequisite, and project scope is matched to the student’s background.

What you'll need to apply

Submit the Research Ignited application with student grade, academic/background information, research interests and goals. The program uses rolling admission and mentor matching.

$2,500 per student. Optional journal publication support costs an additional $400.
