Next Up Founders Prize 2026

Offered by Northeastern University

Northeastern University’s global startup competition for high-school founders, with up to $100,000 in cash prizes and an equal-weight virtual final-pitch option.

About this opportunity

The Next Up Founders Prize is Northeastern University’s new global entrepreneurship competition for high-school students. Entrants can bring an idea from any field and at any stage, from an early concept to an operating venture, as long as AI plays a real role somewhere in the build. Students may compete solo or in teams of up to four. The full entry includes a short written concept and a 2–3 minute video pitch. Winners share up to $100,000 in cash prizes and receive feedback from founders and investors. Finalists may pitch at Northeastern’s Boston campus during Global Entrepreneurship Week in November 2026 or participate virtually; Northeastern states that virtual pitching is weighted equally, so international finalists do not need to travel.

Who can apply

Open worldwide to high-school students (US grades 9–12 equivalent), with no Northeastern affiliation required. The launch announcement states ages 13+; YourRoute lists the relevant 13–18 high-school range. Students may enter individually or in teams of up to four. Applicants under 18 need parent or guardian electronic consent. Ideas may be in any field and at any stage, but AI must play a meaningful role somewhere in the venture or build.

What you'll need to apply

Start with Northeastern’s eligibility form. If the applicant is under 18, a parent or guardian receives an electronic consent form. After eligibility is confirmed, Northeastern emails the full application.
