About this opportunity
The Actuarial Foundation’s Modeling the Future Challenge is a free national STEM competition in which students build actuarial models, analyze risk and make evidence-based recommendations. Teams that qualify for the project phase receive virtual guidance from actuarial mentors and can compete for $55,000 in scholarship prizes.
Who can apply
High-school students in the United States taking junior- or senior-level mathematics such as statistics, probability, pre-calculus or calculus may participate. Entries may be individual or teams of up to five students. YourRoute lists the typical 16–18 age range for eligible upper-high-school students.
What you'll need to apply
Register for the challenge, complete the Scenario Phase, and if qualified develop an actuarial research project using mathematical modeling, real-world data, risk analysis and recommendations.
