Indiana Economics Challenge 2027

A free statewide high-school economics competition whose strongest Indiana teams advance toward the National Economics Challenge.

About this opportunity

The Indiana Economics Challenge tests high-school teams on microeconomics, macroeconomics and international economics. Students complete an online first round, with top teams advancing to state finals and state champions progressing to the National Economics Challenge pathway. Purdue University’s Center for Economic Education covers registration fees and offers scholarship awards to state finalists.

Who can apply

Open to Indiana high-school students enrolled in public, private or home-based schools during the 2026–2027 academic year. Students may also compete through eligible organizations, clubs or before/after-school programs. Teams consist of four students and require a teacher or academic coach.

What you'll need to apply

A teacher or coach registers and sponsors one or more teams of four students. Individual students then complete the online economics exam using assigned access codes.
