About this opportunity
Cornell’s Applied Biotechnology Youth Academy gives high-school students an intensive introduction to bioengineering, synthetic biology and biotechnology through faculty seminars and hands-on laboratory experiments. Students complete DNA extraction and analysis, microbial culturing, cell-free protein synthesis and team activities, and receive a certificate of completion.
Who can apply
High-school students and recent 2027 high-school graduates age 16 or older who are U.S. residents and have completed high-school biology. No prior laboratory experience is required.

Online application and program payment/deposit according to the selected residential or commuter option. Enrollment is limited to 24 students per session.

Residential: $2,600; early-bird residential: $2,400; commuter: $1,900. No scholarships or financial aid are available.
