About this opportunity

The Caltech Engineers Without Borders Science & Engineering Competition challenges student teams to apply scientific reasoning and engineering problem-solving across three rounds. Teams begin with an online preliminary assessment; advancing teams develop a science solution and pitch deck, and finalists present live on Zoom. The high-school category is open worldwide and all participants receive a participation certificate.

Who can apply

High-school category: grades 9–12. Teams must contain 2–5 students from the same school. The preliminary round is open to registered teams worldwide; organizers may grant exceptions for multi-school teams upon request.

What you'll need to apply

Register a team of 2–5 students through the official competition portal and pay the current late-registration fee. The preliminary round is an online assessment. Teams that advance must submit a science-solution pitch deck and finalists present live on Zoom. A two-camera setup is normally required for the preliminary round unless an approved teacher-proctoring exception applies.
